About Split PDF
Splitting breaks one large document into smaller, focused files: a report into chapters, a scanned batch into individual letters, or a long statement into monthly parts. Each range you enter becomes its own PDF, named after the original file and its page numbers.
The parts are created losslessly by copying pages, so nothing is re-compressed. When several files are produced, download them together as a single ZIP archive or pick individual parts from the list.
Tips for best results
- Write open-ended ranges like 10- to mean “page 10 to the end”.
- To keep one file with selected pages instead of many files, use Extract Pages.
- “Every N pages” is handy for splitting double-sided scans or fixed-length forms.
How your file stays on your device
Split PDF runs entirely inside your web browser. When you choose a file, your browser reads it into memory on your own device, a background Web Worker does the processing, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload step, no server that receives your document and no copy kept anywhere — close the tab and it is gone. That makes it safe for contracts, IDs, medical letters and anything else you would rather not send to a stranger's server. How in-browser processing works
FAQ
Split PDF: frequently asked questions
How do I write page ranges?
Separate ranges with commas, e.g. 1-3, 5, 8-. An open range like 8- means page 8 to the end. Each range becomes its own file.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Unlock it first with our Unlock PDF tool (you need to know the password), then split it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Splitting happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
