About PDF to JSON
JSON is the easiest format for programs to read. Exporting a PDF as JSON gives you its title, author, dates and version together with the dimensions and text of every page — ready for search indexes, data pipelines, tests or quick inspections.
Everything is generated locally, which makes it suitable for confidential documents that can't be sent to third-party APIs.
Tips for best results
- Page sizes are in PDF points (1/72 inch); divide by 72 for inches.
- Use PDF to Text if you only need the words.
- Run OCR first for scanned documents, otherwise the text fields will be empty.
How your file stays on your device
PDF to JSON runs entirely inside your web browser. When you choose a file, your browser reads it into memory on your own device, a background Web Worker does the processing, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload step, no server that receives your document and no copy kept anywhere — close the tab and it is gone. That makes it safe for contracts, IDs, medical letters and anything else you would rather not send to a stranger's server. How in-browser processing works
FAQ
PDF to JSON: frequently asked questions
What does the JSON contain?
Document info (title, author, dates…), page count, and for every page its number, width, height (points), rotation and extracted text.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
