Privacy policy

Last updated: 31 October 2026

This policy explains how Total PDF Tools ("we", "us") handles information when you use totalpdftools.com. The short version: the PDF tools never upload your documents, and we collect as little as possible. Cloud storage is optional — only files you choose to save to your cloud are uploaded, stored encrypted at rest, and deletable any time.

1. Your documents

All PDF and image processing happens locally in your web browser using JavaScript, WebAssembly and Web Workers. Files you open are read into your browser's memory, processed there, and offered back to you as a download. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else, there is no server-side processing, and we have no way to see, copy or recover them.

We do not store your documents in your browser's storage (localStorage, IndexedDB or similar). Temporary in-memory copies and download links are discarded when you start over, leave the page or close the tab. Passwords you enter in the Protect or Unlock tools are used only in your browser for that operation.

The only exception is a file you explicitly save to your optional cloud storage (see section 3) — for example with the "Save to cloud" button. Nothing is ever uploaded automatically.

2. Information stored in your browser

We keep a few small preferences in your own browser's localStorage. They never leave your device:

If you sign in, Firebase Authentication keeps your sign-in session in your browser (IndexedDB/localStorage). You can clear all of this at any time through your browser settings or by signing out.

3. Accounts, cloud storage and payments (optional)

You don't need an account to use any PDF tool. If you choose to create one:

Deleting your files or account

You can delete individual files at any time on the Cloud storage page. To delete your whole account, go to Account → Profile → Delete account (also available in the mobile app). This immediately deletes all your cloud files, file metadata and account record, and then your sign-in account. Cancel any paid subscription first in the app store if you bought it there (a web/Stripe subscription is cancelled automatically). You can also email [email protected].

4. Server and network logs

Like every website, our pages and static files (scripts, fonts, the PDF/OCR engines) are delivered by our web host and by Cloudflare, which also serves large engine files from assets.totalpdftools.com. These providers may process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. These requests never contain your documents.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense) and cookies

To keep the tools free, this website shows ads served by Google AdSense. Every page loads Google's AdSense script. Google and its partners use cookies and similar identifiers (such as advertising IDs) to serve ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance, prevent fraud and — where you allow it — personalize them based on your visits to this and other websites.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (and in US states with privacy laws) are asked for their choices through a consent message from Google's certified consent management platform. You can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy & cookie choices" link in the footer.

Your documents are never part of this. The ad script runs separately from the tools and has no access to the files you open. Document contents, file names and passwords are never sent to Google, to us, or anywhere else.

6. Analytics

We do not use analytics or tracking scripts on this website.

7. Contact by email

If you email us at [email protected], we use your message and address only to reply and keep a record of the conversation. Please don't send confidential documents.

8. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since we hold almost none, the simplest way is to clear your browser storage; for anything else, contact us.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page.
