About Add Page Numbers
Page numbers make long documents easier to navigate, reference and reassemble after printing. Choose one of six positions, a format such as 1, Page 1 or 1 / N, the font and size, and how far from the edge they sit.
Numbers are placed relative to how each page is displayed, so they stay upright on rotated pages. You can skip a cover page or number only a range.
Tips for best results
- Start at 0 or another number if the first pages are covers or a table of contents.
- Need text next to the number? Header & Footer supports {page} and {total} tokens.
- Merge your files first so numbering runs across the whole document.
How your file stays on your device
Add Page Numbers runs entirely inside your web browser. When you choose a file, your browser reads it into memory on your own device, a background Web Worker does the processing, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload step, no server that receives your document and no copy kept anywhere — close the tab and it is gone. That makes it safe for contracts, IDs, medical letters and anything else you would rather not send to a stranger's server. How in-browser processing works
FAQ
Add Page Numbers: frequently asked questions
Can I start numbering at a different number?
Yes — set the starting number, for example 3 if the first two pages are covers.
Does it work with rotated pages?
Yes. Numbers are placed relative to how the page is displayed, so they're always upright.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Numbering happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
