Guide

About Sign PDF

Signing a PDF usually means printing, signing and scanning. Instead, create your signature once — with a mouse, finger or stylus, by typing your name in a handwriting font, or by uploading a photo — and place it exactly where it belongs.

Photos of paper signatures can have their white background removed automatically, so the signature sits naturally on the page. Add a date or initials with one click.

Tips for best results

  • Sign with a finger on a phone or tablet for the most natural result.
  • Use Flatten PDF afterwards if the document also has filled form fields.
  • Protect the signed PDF with a password before emailing sensitive contracts.

How your file stays on your device

Sign PDF runs entirely inside your web browser. When you choose a file, your browser reads it into memory on your own device, a background Web Worker does the processing, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload step, no server that receives your document and no copy kept anywhere — close the tab and it is gone. That makes it safe for contracts, IDs, medical letters and anything else you would rather not send to a stranger's server. How in-browser processing works

FAQ

Sign PDF: frequently asked questions

Is this a legally binding digital signature?

This adds a visual (electronic) signature image, which is accepted for many everyday agreements. It is not a certificate-based digital signature; for regulated documents check your local requirements.

Is my signature saved?

No. Your signature exists only in this browser tab and is discarded when you close it.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Signing happens entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
